Uzbekistan plans to launch 42 fertilizer projects worth $2.8 billion by 2030

According to authorities, $300 million worth of household chemicals are imported into the country every year. The market volume of these products in the region is estimated at $2 billion.

An example was given of an entrepreneur in the Angren free economic zone, who established cooperation with the world-famous company Henkel.

Henkel has now acquired this enterprise and plans to supply products from its site to the CIS countries.

To increase the number of such projects, space in one of the industrial zones of Tashkent will be provided for household chemical projects.

In addition, it is planned to allocate $50 million for projects with the condition of subsequent sale of launched enterprises to the private sector as ready-made profitable businesses along with the brand.

$15 million will be allocated from the Industrial Cooperation Fund for similar projects in other regions. In general, responsible persons were instructed to develop a program to launch at least 100 new branded products in the field of household chemicals.

The meeting also discussed prospects for the production of mineral fertilizers. According to the analysis, global demand for them is growing by 5% per year and will exceed $260 billion by 2030. The need for water-soluble fertilizers is increasing especially rapidly due to the introduction of new agricultural technologies.

As a result of negotiations with investors, agreements were reached on the implementation of a project in the Kashkadarya region worth $114 million and an annual capacity of 230 thousand tons, as well as a project in the Syrdarya region worth $400 million.

In general, in the next three years, those responsible for the industry and khokims have been tasked with launching 42 projects worth $2.8 billion. Due to these projects, by 2030 it is planned to increase the production of nitrogen fertilizers from 2.8 million to 4 million tons, phosphate fertilizers - from 400 thousand to 900 thousand tons, water-soluble fertilizers - from 100 thousand to 400 thousand tons.

Previous head of statestatedthat the products of the chemical industry do not cover even 60% of domestic demand, and imports have reached $4.5 billion per year, the President of Uzbekistan said. He instructed to launch 10 small-scale chemical projects worth $1 billion next to Navoiazot. Projects for deep processing of mineral raw materials are also planned.
