20 billion dollars and 50 thousand jobs: a major task has been set for Kashkadarya

In terms of industrial output per capita, the region ranks seventh in the republic, in services — ninth, and in the volume of agriculture and construction — eleventh. The President noted that if district hokims and banks create an environment where “knowledge — encouragement, labor — opportunity, initiative — support,” Kashkadarya could already in one or two years enter the number of the most advanced regions.
The region has sufficient resources to move to a new stage in industry. The task has been set to turn gas, electricity and mineral resources into profitable jobs and high added value.
Three major projects worth 300 million dollars are ready at the GTL plant. Based on the 430 thousand tons of naphtha produced by the plant, it is possible to implement a project worth 1.5 billion dollars for the production of new polymers and petrochemical products. There is an opportunity to increase the capacity of the Dehkanabad Potash Plant from 365 thousand tons to 600 thousand tons, and in small-tonnage chemistry — more than 30 project proposals worth 830 million dollars.
The project manager assigned to the region and other responsible officials have been instructed to prepare a three-year program covering projects worth 20 billion dollars and providing for the creation of 50 thousand jobs.
