It was ordered to launch small-scale chemical projects worth $1 billion near Navoiazot
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev June 2visitedchemical-industrial technopark "Chirchik", where I got acquainted with the activities of a number of enterprises andspenta meeting on the development of the chemical industry and the implementation of investment projects in the regions, the press service of the head of state reported.
According to officialdatathat over the past nine years, the industry of Uzbekistan has grown by an average of 6.3% per year, while in the chemical industry this figure does not reach 3%. At the same time, imports of chemical products are increasing and amount to $4.5 billion per year.
The head of state pointed out that the chemical products produced in the country do not cover even 60% of domestic demand, the available opportunities are not used effectively enough, and the added value per employee in the chemical industry is 2-3 times lower than in other countries.
The President criticized the activities of the state-owned company Uzkimyosanoat, noting that it is mainly occupied by large enterprises in its system. According to him, systematic work with more than 5,000 enterprises in the industry, as well as the process of studying their problems and proposals, is weak.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that he decided to personally meet with representatives of chemical industry enterprises to discuss the accumulated issues in the industry.
The meeting also discussed the need to move to products with higher added value.
In Uzbekistan annuallyproduced1.5 million tons of ammonium nitrate, which consumes 1.07 billion cubic meters of gas. Meanwhile, according to authorities, advanced countries are reducing their consumption of nitrate and are switching to the use of urea and water-soluble fertilizers in agriculture, as well as porous nitrate in the mining industry.
The head of state pointed out that with the same cost as ammonium nitrate, the added cost of porous nitrate is twice as high. Responsible persons and managers of chemical enterprises have been instructed to increase the number of such projects.
The president cited Navoiazot as an example. If the price of 1 ton of cyanide salt produced at the enterprise is $3,700, then when glue is obtained from it, the cost increases to $8,000. Responsible persons were instructed to start 10 small-scale chemical projects worth $1 billion in the cluster next to Navoiazot.
The topic of using mineral reserves was separately touched upon. The head of state noted that in geology it is possible to fully utilize available resources and increase added value many times over.
In particular, in Karakalpakstan, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya and Navoi regions there are reserves of sodium and potassium in the amount of 550 million tons, as well as 20 million tons of bentonite. When processing these raw materials and producing caustic soda, the added value can increase 3 times.
In addition, 1.5 million tons of reserves were identified in the Jizzakh region, and 500 thousand tons of reserves in Karakalpakstan.serpentinite. When treated with sulfuric acid, it can produce magnesium oxide worth up to $5,000 per ton.
With deeper processing of serpentinite, it is possible to obtain nickel, chromium and cobalt - important raw materials for the electrical industry.
Responsible officials have been instructed to develop a three-year program to double the reserves of raw materials needed for the chemical industry, including phosphorite, halite, mirabilite and serpentinite, and to begin related work.
In addition, the task has been set to launch projects for the processing of serpentinite raw materials worth at least $200 million.
In March of this year, Presidentreportedthat in the chemical industry of Uzbekistan in 2026 it is planned to attract $2.5 billion in investments, launch seven new production facilities and increase the production of fertilizers for agriculture. Then he criticized the implementation of a number of major projects.
