Economic activity in Uzbekistan continued to grow in the new year - experts

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. Enterprises of Uzbekistan note continued growth in economic activity in January. The assessment of business expectations is breaking records, reports a Podrobno.uz correspondent.

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) reported that as of January, the assessment of the business climate in Uzbekistan has improved again. The analytical indicator is calculated monthly based on a survey conducted by CERR.

Compared to December, in January the composite indicator of the business climate increased by 7 points to 61, which indicates a further expansion of business activity. For comparison, in January last year the composite indicator was 54 points.

Assessments of the current state of business in all industries except services were more positive. Overall, 41% gave a “good” assessment of the current state of the business, 13% – “poor”.

Assessing the current demand for goods and services, 35% of enterprises noted an increase in consumption. At the same time, 17% of companies increased the number of their employees.

Expectations for business development prospects indicate a fairly high level of optimism among entrepreneurs. The composite indicator of expectations regarding business prospects over the next three months reached a record high over the past two years, gaining 81 points. Significant improvements in optimism were shown in the areas of industry (92 points) and construction (81 points).

Overall, the survey found that 79% of businesses expect the overall health of their business to improve. Enterprises' expectations for demand for goods and services amounted to 74%. Almost 72% of employers are ready to increase the number of employees in their company.
