The head of "Uzkimyosanoat" reported on the production of chemical fertilizers from reserves that had accumulated in large volumes.On April 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on the progress of projects in Uzbekistan’s chemical industry and the upcoming measures for its diversification.
According to the data presented, in the last five years, 23 new enterprises have been launched, over 4,000 jobs have been created, and production volume has increased by 1.5 times.
As a result of the modernization of the Kokand superphosphate plant, as well as the creation of clusters in Navoi, Fergana, and Kungrad, and technoparks in Chirchik and Jizzakh, international brands have entered the industry, and small-tonnage production has been established.
It was reported that in the first quarter of this year, $181 million was attracted to the sector, and three projects worth $39 million were launched.
By the end of the second quarter, the launch of the factories for the production of "green" hydrogen and cyanide salts is planned, with an additional $170 million in foreign investment.
The President emphasized the importance of digitalizing the chemical sector. In particular, the development of the "Unified Digital Platform" will continue, which is planned to reflect 15 key economic indicators of enterprises. Also, new digital modules are being introduced into the unified treasury system of chemical plants.
Regarding energy efficiency, the President pointed out the need to reduce production costs through energy saving and rational use of production capacities.
Along with the achievements, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that there is still significant unused potential in the sector. While demand for chemical products in the country is growing, external instability requires more flexible and thoughtful approaches.
The President instructed to develop a new program for the development of the chemical industry, which should address modern challenges, forecasts, and focus on deepening localization, diversifying production, and increasing the share of products with high added value.
